There is a criterion set by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation for applying for the PMAY Urban Scheme. Some of them include the following:

• The beneficiary should not have any home listed in his name.
• The Beneficiary should not have availed any housing scheme benefits in the past.
• If a couple is applying or there is a joint owner, the subsidy will only be provided as one unit.
